Objectives:


Accessible Clean Water:


Establish community water sources like boreholes and wells to provide easily accessible and safe drinking water within reasonable distances for communities.

Promote safe water storage practices and educate communities on water conservation to maximize the impact of clean water availability.

Sanitation Facilities and Hygiene Education:


Construct and upgrade sanitation facilities, focusing on schools, health centers, and public areas, to ensure proper sanitation and hygiene practices.

Conduct comprehensive hygiene education campaigns to raise awareness and educate communities on the importance of sanitation, hygiene, and its direct link to public health.

Women and Girl's Safety and Empowerment:


Implement safety measures and lighting around water sources and sanitation facilities to ensure the security of women and girls, particularly during early morning or late evening visits.

Facilitate women's involvement and leadership in managing water and sanitation initiatives, promoting gender equity and empowerment.

Community Mobilization and Advocacy:


Mobilize communities to actively participate in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of water and sanitation projects, fostering a sense of ownership and sustainability.

Engage in advocacy efforts to raise awareness about the water and sanitation challenges in Northern Uganda, aiming to influence policies and garner support for long-term solutions.

Key Activities:


Conduct extensive community sensitization programs to educate and mobilize the population about the project and its benefits.

Collaborate with local authorities and organizations to gather data on water quality and sanitation needs for informed decision-making.

Partner with local artisans and construction workers for the building and renovation of water and sanitation facilities.

Organize training sessions for community members, particularly women and girls, on hygiene practices, water conservation, and sanitation maintenance.

Establish community-led monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure ongoing effectiveness and sustainability of the project.

Reduced waterborne diseases and related health issues due to enhanced access to clean water and improved sanitation.
